| Post subject: | When to use the frosted dome cover? |
I was looking through some of the photos on the website of the Einsteins being used with various light mods and in some photos the frosted dome cover is used in the light mod and in others it seems to be bare bulbed. I have an 86" PLM, a 47" Octa and a 22" beauty dish as well as some 8.5" reflectors. Should I use the frosted dome cover in all of these or only some? What do you all find is best practice for these situations? Thanks, Chris |

The frosted dome is intended to always be used. It equalizes and smooths the flash and models patterns and makes them absolutely identical, without the usual hotspots, further reduces the already very low UV emission from the UV coated flash tube and generally produces the smoothest light patterns of any flash made. The one slight downside is the dome does lower the stated color temperature by about 200°K. |

Thanks for the replies. I think that I'll just leave them on then. I think the only reason I'd have to take them off was if I needed to eek out every last stop of power and was losing a little through that. Do you know what the difference is between having them on or off? Chris |
