This is an excellent update to the manual. I hope it will help anyone getting started with the Cyber Commander, and those who are considering changing to CC system.
Before changing from my long trusted triggers and purchasing my Cyber Commander, CSXCV’s, and CSRB+’s, I read A LOT of reviews. In particular, I read many reviews of the CC. The most common criticism I heard is it is too complicated.
After using mine a couple of months now, I would argue the Cyber Commander is not complicated. It is sophisticated, and that sophistication yields serious flexibility and control. It’s like the difference between a point-and-shoot and a professional camera. If you want to harness the CC’s power, flexibility and control, you have to invest the time to not just learn it, but practice with it over and over again until it you know it so well it is easy to use.
That’s what I did. I practiced with my Cyber Commander and multi-light setups for the better part of two days before using them for paid work, and the first shoot with them went perfectly smooth. When I first got my CC, I figured I would only make adjustments to power, etc., when lights were out of reach. I was wrong. What I found is I have practiced enough with my CC that I can make changes faster with it than I can walking to my lights even when they are only a few steps away.
Anyway, thanks for making the life of someone who does not have the luxury of assistants much easier. I not only have e640’s, a CC, CSXCV’s, and CSRB+’s, but also mini Vagabonds. It’s a system that has completely changed the way I can work, and all for the better.
