I'm gonna invest in Einsteins soon and I was wondering what triggers to buy additionally.
I already have a miniTT1 and 2x flex5TT's.

I know there is a mc2 especially for the einsteins but that is 150$, while the flextt5 is 190$.
But when you want to use just speedlights or change the brand of strobes one day you cannot use the mc2's anymore?

Is there a difference in using a mc2 feature wise, and using the flexTT5 with a cord (and some velco?)

With the TT5, you will only get triggering on the Einstein. The MC2 will allow the remote adjustments and so forth. The MC2's offer certain funtions but not all available functions of Cyber Commander (you will need to contact Pocket Wizard for the specifics as the supported functions are a product of the transmitter).

Alternatively, you can get the CyberCommander and 1 reciever per light, which allows full control of the Einstein. While these and Pocket Wizard are not intercompatible, you can run them in parallel.

Oh so when using a synccord not all data is transmitted and some functions are not possible like with the miniTT1 -> MC2 setup? Too bad.

Well, how much the cybercommander looks nice. I already have 600$ worth of pocketwizards. So i'm not giving that up. Thanks for the info.

A sync cord has a common and trigger connections. This is a limitation in the light as well as the sync jack of the remote. In the case of Einstein, there is a set of 8 pins to communicate with the tranciever.
