SS controls ambient, and Aperture controls flash exposure. It does not matter what the meter says the shutter speed is, it's an Incident light meter, not an ambient meter, or reflective meter. Use your camera for the reflective metering. You can use it to measure ambient light, by pushing the lower rt hand button when on an empty channel, but just adjust by a factor of 2 (1 stop less) if your at 1/200th, and it's set for 1/100th. To tell you the truth, I've never noticed what the ss was set to on the meter, because it does not matter. Adjusting the aperture by 1/3rd stops would be far more useful to me, but that's easily adjusted for as well. As you use it these things will just become second nature to you.

While it is true the shutter speed does not matter in a typical studio environment, it can matter in situations with bright ambient light, such as outdoors on a reasonably bright day.

We are exploring the expansion, but we have no estimation of when or if it will happen.

I agree that this would be a nice addition.
