I tried to update my Einstein to FW v.30 but the card just fell through.
I updated my previous Einstein without any issues. This unit is a replacement
from the original one.

Would I VOID my warranty if I open the unit to retrieve the card? I really can't afford
to send it back...need to use it this week. If I leave the card in would it cause any circuit
problems if it touches something?

It sounds like the card was not inserted at a 90 degree angle, and went between the body and the card slot. It is possible the card could short something in the light, and we strongly recommend it to be sent in for service.

You may be right because, the housing is not flush, the gap is really wide,
I don't recall my first Einstein having such a gap between the housing because
I updated the firmware without incident.

I will send it back as suggested and include a note for someone to check the gap
for me.
Thanks for your quick response

My only micro sd card clicked into place...permanently. I've been trying for an hour to get it out, and I'm afraid I've damaged it. And I have seven more 640's to update. I don't have tweezers that fit. Any suggestions?

...update: finally got the card out (in pieces), and while the card slot isn't perfectly aligned with the hole in the body of the flash, I was able to insert a new card and update the firmware. Thanks.

Look to see if the card may be catching on the housing of the light. A small knife tip, like an X-acto knife may help pry the card out from under the housing.

OK, I finally got it out, in pieces. Needless to say I'm a little hesitant to put another one in this light. If I send it in, can you check the card slot and update the firmware?

No need...I tried another card and it updated fine. Maybe the card was the problem in the first place.
You guys are the best!
