Hi, I just bought a Honda EU 2000i generator thinking it should be a perfect way to power my Einsteins on location. (I have vagabond IIs already, need faster recycle and longer operating time)

All worked well for about 5 minutes, then Generator died, would not restart until I let it rest for several minutes. It runs fine until I plug in the lights and fire it. Not even close to full power, only one light, no modeling lamps on.

Everything I've read so far implies that the lights should work perfectly...

Any info you have would be appreciated.

It is possible there is a fault in the generator, or it is possible that type of generator does not like Einstein. Theoretically, it should not have a problem, but Einstein does draw power differently than the Alien Bees and White Lighting. If it has a hyper sensitive circuit breaker, that may cause the generator to trip quickly, or if you were firing the light rapidly, it could trip from that.

Sounds like a generator issue. Run other stuff off it and see if it survives...it should easily handle and Einstein...

I realize this is an older thread, but FWIW, I use my Honda 2000i with multiple lights all the time. I only have one Einstein but it is always in the mix and no problems with up to four lights.
