I've been using Pocket Wizard Flex TT5s and an AC3 Zone Controller to trigger my Nikon speedlights. I have a set of three older Ultra 1200s (serial nos. 22155-22157), and I would like to get PW AC9 adapters and use the Ultras with the AC3 and the Flex TT5s. Will the AC3-Flex-AC9 combination allow me to control my older Ultra units from my camera? Thanks for any insight you might provide!

I have limited knowlege on these products, since we did not have a part in the development of them. However, the remote port the AC9 uses is the same from the Ultras through the current lights (except the Einsteins). While we cannot verify the effectiveness of the remotes, I would think they should work as well with the Ultras as they do the Alien Bees.

For the good of the order:

Based on your tentative encouragement, I purchased one AC9 unit. It arrived today, and I immediately tested it on my Ultras. It worked perfectly. With the AC3 Zone Controller, I was able to vary an Ultra 1200's power output through a six-stop range. In short: It works.

I have already ordered two more AC9s, and look forward to three-light setups with no more back-and-forth between flash heads to change power settings!

Thank you for your help.
