Post subject:  Mis Fire with CST Transmitter

Hi guys,

I had a few mis fires using my CST transmitter to fire my Einsteins (E640's have CSXCV's). I had the frequency set to 3, very close range with the range being no more then 15 ft away. I switched of the optical firing as another photographer was using a on board flash. Usually I leave optical on.

One out of the 3 lights would fire then sometimes 2 would fire. I tested the battery and it is reading 3.03 volts. When I put the battery back in the red light flashed 3 times. I changed the battery and the new battery reads 3.2 volts. The red light only flashes 2 times when I put it back in.

Any idea what could be going on?

Thanks guys..

The flashing as you put the battery in is just a confirmation that it reads the battery, though I have never seen it to be other than three blinks. The three blinks for a low battery indicator would be from a trigger episode (sync cord, test button, hotshoe).

Did you try changing frequencies?

Could it be possible that the frequency I was using was getting interference from something?

I didn't change the frequency on that shoot but I have changed it to 1 when I got home. I have another couple of shoots this week so I will see what happens then.

Did some testing this morning at home and I can't get the problem to replicate. Has to be some frequency interference where I was shooting yesterday...hopefully that's what it was.?
I use to have the same problem with Cactus 4's sometimes in different locations...thought I would had got away from that with these units..

Interference is rare with CyberSync, but will be possible with any radio system in any application. Switching frequencies by several steps should resolve the issue.

Rare alright...I haven't had a mis fire in the 4,000 odd clicks I have used them for in the last couple of months....until now.

Thanks Tech Support...I will give that a go.
