I have a modified Canon 580ex with a 3.5mm jack that I want to use with my CSR receiver. I can get one flash, but have to remove and replug the cable to get another flash. I have used a cheap Ebay trigger with my flash and it works every time. Is there something wrong with my CSR?

Probably not. If it works fine on your Paul C. Buff light, then no. The CSR's were not intended to work on speedlites, though it may work with some. Instead, they were designed specifically for our lights, but also to be compatible with as many AC powered lights as possible.

Given that we cannot test every single light on the market, and that the AC powered receivers were not intended to work with battery powered strobes, it is likely a case of incompatibility. CSRB model receivers should work fine on stock 580EX's, though we have not tested or heard results from anyone using a modified unit.
