I didn't see this topic on the forum so I'll ask the question. First, I have three PCB 13' heavy duty air cushioned light stands and three white lightning 800 flash units. I'm intending to use a boom arm for hair light with one of my white lightning 800 flash units. I've started searching for a boom arm but there are so many to choose from. I'm considering the D600CB - Mini Boom - Black and Chrome for purchase, is this a good boom and are there others I should consider?

You do not want to use a boom that attaches to the top stud if you intend to use them with the aforementioned stands. They are not designed for such use. Instead, use a boom that has a clamp that would mount to the shaft of the light stand instead. Like this boom: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4 ... m_Arm.html. This is the type of mounting system, not an endorsement of this particular boom.

Thanks for the information. That is helpful, and I'm only planning on using a honeycomb grid light modifier, nothing too heavy.

I use an Avenger D600, and while it's good, it's really too heavy to use on lightweight portable stands. The Westcott looks like a reasonable choice.

You might also consider an extension arm for a C-Stand, attached to the stand with a second grip head. That should safely give you a couple feet of reach, total cost about $70. I LOVE these:
