Post subject:  Cyber Commander - Stored Setups & Gear Question

I am a new user of the CyberSync system. I found it pretty easy to set up for the first time. I have 3 Einsteins and 2 ABs. The Einsteins have the CSXCV receivers and the ABs use the CSRB+ receivers.

I frequently shoot small groups, and use a similar lighting setup often. I have saved that set-up as SD1 on the Cyber Commander. Is there a benefit to match up the CSXCV and the CSRB+ receivers with the same flash units each time?

I have the flash units labeled with their Channel, should I label the receivers too? Thank you!

CSVCV no.
CSRB+ yes (there's channel switch on it).

I find it helpful to print out a big sticker labelling each Einstein's channel and sticking it on the Einstein.

Thanks very much, I have done the same. Does it matter if a setup has lights that are NOT being used? For example, if a setup has the Einsteins on Channels 1-3 and the ABs are 4 & 5 and I don't use the ABs for that shoot. Do I need to delete the ABs from my setup and make a new setup? If I don't have to delete them, then I can use one saved setup for multiple configurations.

You can still control some lights, even if others are not connected. However, lets say when you use all lights, you use them at near minimum power. But when you use part of the lights, they start near full power. If the channels you are not using are at or near minimum, and the others are at a higher power, if you go to the ALL channel to bring them down, the channels that are at the bottom will bottom out, and the others cannot go any farther since the CC tries to maintain ratio of all lights. This applies even if the unused lights are set to standby.

You can set up a group that contains the lights used in a partial set up, say group 8, then when you need to adjust all at once, go to GRP8 and adjust. This will not try to adjust the lights which are excluded from the group (i.e. the ones you are not using).

For me, I would just open from studio with only the Einsteins powered on (i.e. make sure CSR+ receivers are unplugged, or CSRB+ receivers are not awake). The CC will open the Einsteins and pull in all set information. Save this as a different set up on the SD card.

Also, for what it is worth, I start with SD50 and move to the left. This will be quicker to access when opening.
