Which pocket wizard model?

What happens if you use a regular sync cord?

I apologize, but I am not sure if the issue has been resolved, or if the images were showing something else.

Have you put in new batteries and reset all settings on the PW TT to defaults?

I think you posted on the AB Flickr group too...

This is normal. The flash duration of a B400 is 1/2000 t.1, which is incredibly short. HyperSync relies on a long flash duration in order to work properly. As flash duration gets longer as you power down the flash, you may get better results by reducing power.

For HyperSync questions, your best bet is to contact Pocket Wizard/LPA directly.

These two threads will fully discuss this. But what you are seeing is the difference between a short flash duration vs. a longer flash duration. You do not specify which Visico you have, so I cannot give you a definitive difference, but it is flash duration related.

What is happening is the PW triggers the light, the shutter opens, the light completes its burn, then the shutter finishes its travel. The flash duration is shorter than the travel time of the shutter. This is very similar to the x-sync being exceeded, only the opposite.

Your visico can burn long enough for the shutter to completely finish its travel, and does not result in the black bar.
