I have owned the Vagabond 2 for a quite a while. It's a very valuable piece of equipment. Probably, the most valuable piece in my lighting kit. It even helped me out during Hurricane Sandy. :D The weight of the unit has never bothered me. I like a weighty unit actually, so the newer Vagabond Mini Lithium doesn't appeal to me too much. I'm looking to replace the 12v 20ah SLA battery with a newer battery. Instead of SLA, can I use a Lithium battery, along with it's own seperate charger, such as this one here? http://www.batteryspace.com/Powerizer-LiFePO4-Battery-12V-25Ah-300Wh-50A-rate-with-PCB-and-LED.aspx |

The VII inverter pulls more than a lithium battery can handle, so we do not recommend their useage. Also, at $250 plus a $45 for a charger and you could probably sell the VII for no less than $150, even without a battery, that would leave you $450, that would go a long way for two Vminis. You can always add rocks if you need/want more weight. Alternatively, $300 will get you a number of new SLA batteries. |
