Hi,

I bought my Einsteins in November. I have to say that I'm very happy about it. They function perfectly with the Cyber Commander and it's really amazing.

There's one thing though. Recently I wanted to shoot at f2.8 and the modelling lamp was to low to get accurate focus so I switched it to the adjustable mode. Well, it did not work at all on that one. It's the "follow" mode, full or off. Not adjustable. I switched it for my 2nd Einstein and that one does it fine. I can adjust the power manually.

Is this a known issue? Is it fixable by firmware or do I have to send it back for repair?

Thanks

Does this mean the model lamp turned off completely when ADJ was selected? Or what did the light do exactly?

I'm writing this from memory, but I'm almost certain that is was turned off completely. I could verify tonight if it matters.

And if it helps, I also tried to adjust the lamp with the cyber commander with no results either.

OK. When you test do the following.

Remove the CSXCV

Press the EASY SET button

Use the function and arrow buttons to select light bulb and circular arrow icon in the MODEL window

What does the model lamp do now? Go off? Stay on? Change intensity, and how?

I finally got time to sit down with the lights and test it thoroughly.

To my surprise, both were not working at all this morning so I decided to take the time and try everything I could think of.

When I was going to the "Adj" mode, the lamps were turned off and the graph was showing it completely empty (down). Played around with the unit itself, with the commander and nothing seemed to work until, in frustration, I kept my finger on Down on the commander... well you know what, the lamps finally turned on at max and started to respond.

So now, both my Einstein have fully functional modeling lamps. Not sure if this is supposed to happen, but at least I got it fixed.

Thanks
