I can't identify the object . . . looks like a large blob of solder to me. Certainly not a component of any sort.
My gut opinion is that it is probably safe to use. On the other hand, it's good the solder blob fell out . . . had it stayed in there rolling around it would likely cause a short and a failure. If you prefer, we would be happy replace to the VML. Just write

BTW, I have never seen a defect like this . . . most likely the fault of excess solder being applied.
Have you tried to use it? Does it work OK.
