Post subject: | Trouble with Einstein and Pocket Wizard |
I have purchased two Einstein 640's and the give off wonderful light. I use a Canon 5D Mark II, Mini tt1, the ac3, and the Power MC2 on the Einsteins. However, once I get the light set the way I want it, it will do fine until I change the aperture on the camera. Then, immediately the Einstein goes to 3 stops below full power. I go over and manually change it back and it works fine until I change the aperture again, and it again goes directly to 3 stops below full power. Am I missing something? Is this a power tracking function that I can turn off? I am new to monolights, but I have read the manual. Thank you for any help you may be able to provide. |

You have, in one way or another, set the Einsteins up to be controlled from the camera position (i.e. camera or TT remote). If you just want to trigger the flash, set the flash and remote to CH1-32 instead of C-TL 1-32. Einstein was designed to update based on a commanding transmitter's settings. So when the aperture was changed, a refresh signal was sent, and the light reverted to where the transmitter thought it should be. Thanks for your help. I re-read the MC2 manual and and kind of figured it out. If I have it on the Control TL, and don't change the aperture, the AC3 works just fine. Thanks again. |
