I saw this and thought it was clever - mine's certainly on order already. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lum ... st-century After I ordered it, I thought, you know who else is clever, PCB. I wonder if he's seen this, and if once he does he might consider teaming up to create an iOS version of the Cyber Commander... (Or at least open up an SDK for people to write their own and give it a try. I'd really like a larger, easier to read screen and an improved interface). |

+1 on this. If I could plug something the size of a csxcv into my HTC 1 or my iPad mini or my assistants iPhone on set and not have to futz with my cybercommander (sorry Laup you've heard it before and you'll hear it again: fantastic, but fussy device). I'd buy one (and a backup or 2). But really I'd settle for paying more (300) for a cc that has the usability of an iPhone/android device. |

I'm trying to understand the advantages of this as opposed to just using the CyberCommander, which can be used as a flash meter, a remote Einstein control, and an ambient light meter. I've heard it before, too, about the ease of use and/or intuitiveness of the CyberCommander, and I have come to believe it is like any other sophiticated photographic device: invest in learning and practice and follow that up with regular use, and it becomes an invaluable tool. It's made so many things easier and possible for me that were not before that I actually own two of them - just like owning two or more bodies for failover. Is it a perfect device? No, but who has made one of those yet? But if you haven't sat down with the CC for a couple of hours to truly learn adding/removing lights, frequency, channels, groups, the flash meter, how to use it as an ambient light meter, saving settings, loading settings, etc., then your opinion of it will probably not be favorable. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. http://www.craigwasselphotoart.com |

Prior to ios (with its inherent advantages & disadvantages) the Blackberry was top of the heap in terms of what you could do with a cellphone. What i'd like to see is a release of an sdk so a developer could do the equivalent with the CC. It's a good enough piece of equipment that could be great. We're all happy with our blackberry pearls because nobody has come along with an HTC 1 to blow our minds... yet. I'd be willing to invest in making that happen. |
