I am an outdoor portrait photographer. I am diving into the world of indoor photography. (gets cold here in Missouri in the winter time :( ) I am looking at the flash ring. if I purchase the flash ring, do I need any other lighting? I will be setting up in a small corner of my children's boutique and shooting in the evenings and night time for the most part. Can someone help me with this question? Thank you in advance.

Long story short, no, a lone ring flash will not give you the lighting most find pleasing. There are some situations where a single ringflash is effective lighting, but it is usually on axis, which provides no shadow and results in very flat images.

Using a ring flash as a fill with another light off camera is an effective set up. You can use only the ringflash off camera like a regular light, but a B800 would do the same job at a lower cost.

For the cost of one ringflash, I would recommend 2 B400's. However, customer service is better equipped to to make recommendations based on your needs
