Post subject: | Flash Ring |
I am an outdoor portrait photographer. I am diving into the world of indoor photography. (gets cold here in Missouri in the winter time :( ) I am looking at the flash ring. if I purchase the flash ring, do I need any other lighting? I will be setting up in a small corner of my children's boutique and shooting in the evenings and night time for the most part. Can someone help me with this question? Thank you in advance. |

Long story short, no, a lone ring flash will not give you the lighting most find pleasing. There are some situations where a single ringflash is effective lighting, but it is usually on axis, which provides no shadow and results in very flat images. Using a ring flash as a fill with another light off camera is an effective set up. You can use only the ringflash off camera like a regular light, but a B800 would do the same job at a lower cost. For the cost of one ringflash, I would recommend 2 B400's. However, customer service is better equipped to to make recommendations based on your needs |
