The flash tube in my AB 1600 starts flickering really fast when I plug the phone type remote cable into it and then into a AC + receiver. If I screw in a modeling lamp(100watt), the flash tube will flicker at a fast rate for a few seconds and then the power switch will trip off. I have tried two different AC+ receivers and two different remote cables but have the same problem. Is there something else I can try besides plugging the power cable into a different outlet because I have tried that as well. Thanks. |

That sounds like a grounding or noise issue. Use just the power cord to the wall, and do not use any extension cords or power strips (which are normally OK, but for trouble shooting, do not use them). Try plugging into a different circuit, not just a different outlet in the same room. If there is a problem with one outlet, that can be shared with other outlets on the same circuit, sometimes even throughout the building. Try using a different power cord, as these can develop faults over time. Does the problem happen if you are only using the 1/8 to 1/8 cord? |

Here's what I did to test the light. -I plugged the a/c cord into the unit and it powered on with no problems. -I tried different rooms of the house. -I plugged in my a/c powered cybersync+ receiver and turned the power on with no problems. -I turned the power switch off and plugged in the phone type remote cable to the light and to the receiver. I turned the light back on and the flash tube started flickering very fast. -I turned the light off and moved to several different rooms and tried turning the light on to test. -Each time I turned the light on I get the same fault, the flash tube flickers at a very fast rate. It didn't seem to matter which room of the house I was in. -I plugged the sync cable into the light and then into the a/c + receiver and powered it up. The light did not flicker. -The flickering flash tube only happens when the remote cable is plugged in. -I tried a completely different location to test my light and the flash tube still flickered when the remote cable is plugged in. -I tried my battery powered + receiver and the light did not flicker when the remote cable was plugged in. -The problem does not happen when the sync cable alone is connecting the light to the + receiver. -With the sync cable connected, if I plug in the remote cable, the flash tube will start flickering. Now, I believe this is a grounding problem inside the light. I wrote up a description of the problem and what the light was doing and overnighted the light to be repaired LAST WEEK! I called and talked to someone about it and was told that the light was repaired and that it would be shipped back to me by Friday, yesterday. So I eagerly waited for the light to arrive when I got off work yesterday. When it did arrive, I tried it out to see if it would work or not. I am greatly disappointed that the light demonstrated the same problem that I sent it in for repair. Since I need the light for a job I'm doing over the July 4th weekend, I do not have time now to ship the light back to be repaired again before the event. It's still exhibiting the same malfunction and I was hoping that it was something that I could take care of. I believe the fault is with the light itself and not with my house wiring or with the wiring at a second location that I took the light to to try out. After the holiday weekend, I would like to ship the light back in for repair to see if there is something that can be done. If the light works there then I must be doing something wrong but I'm at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong here. I have another AB 1600 and it works just fine with all three of my cybersync + receivers.(two are a/c powered and the third is battery powered) Please let me know if there is anything else I can try to get this light working. Thanks. |

At the moment, I cannot access our repair or sales records, as I am at home until Monday. In the mean time, try the AC cord from your other light. Also try the the other telephone cord from your CSRB+. |
