I already have the Einstein but debating whether or not AB1600 will be more practical when using in Hypersync mode. The Einstein does Hypersync efficiently with acceptable result ONLY at full power. Meanwhile, The AB1600 will yield acceptable result at full power and any power level since the flash duration will get longer. So when shooting with The Eistein in Hypersync, and the subject is overexposed, the only way I can adjust the exposure is to move it further from the subject. I can't lower the power because the flash duration will get shorter and I will get black band. Meanwhile with the AB1600, if the subject is overexposed, I can adjust the power level down from where I am at. Am I correct on this?

In theory, the B1600 should do better for this task due to the longer flash durations at all power below full. The extent to which this works, I cannot speak for.

Einstein Einstein Einstein. . well.. just love Einstein which I use with my Tronix Explorer Mini, don't know about you. .. But I think Einstein's much better except of course AB colors are kind of cute.. . :D

The downside of Einstein for HyperSync schemes is that you have to use it at full power to achieve the long durations required. Thus you are throwing away a lot of power and enduring long recycle times.

With AB1600, you can reduce the power setting, and thus the recycle time and power consumption, while increasing the flash duration for more successful HyperSync, but, of course, by reducing the power you are reducing the available flash power and exposure.

For me, I hate HyperSync and suggest using Einstein and look into Fuji X-S1 or X100 camera with leaf shutters that can actually sync Einstein up to 1/4000 real shutter speed. Great for shutting down the sun and stopping action without fuss.

I've been doing some shooting with the S-X1 (now only $699) with a 24 to 624mm zoom lens and Einstein at 160 to 320 real WS and it will stop any action, without fuss and up to 100 times the power from any HyperSync scheme. The sensor is small, but the pictures are pretty darn good. The X100 has a much larger sensor but fixed lens and is quite popular. Haven't figured out whether the X-Pro 1 with interchangeable lenses uses leaf shutters or not.

Dug into the Fuji X Pro 1. It's an ordinary focal plane shutter with an external sync speed of 1/180 second, so a no go. I still like what I get from the X S1. On sale right now at B&H for, gulp, $599. Small sensor, but darn good images, features and full HD movies plus a huge 2.8/5.6 zoom.

Hi Paul, I just bought the Fuji X100S and using your CyberSync system, it works perfect with the E640. Fantastic being able x-sync all the way up to 1/4000 second.

I am not able to get the same performance using PW, though I have not set them up as basic triggers yet. The delay of their ControlTL is stopping proper sync above 1/1000 second.

I've grown to like the Cyber Commander, using it with your CSXCV instead of the PowerMC2, MiniTT1, AC3, and Sekonic L-478DR setup due to speed of setup (less stuff) and the accuracy of your flash meter built in to the commander. Really sped up my setup for wedding formals.

The Einstein and X100S might end-up being my go to camera setup for outside sessions. I'm getting excellent quality from the Fuji (as good as my Nikon D800e with all things considered equal). Not only does the Fuji have f/2 glass, but also a built in 3-stop ND filter. Great combination with your Einstein.
