I am having trouble getting adequate range out of my Einstein/MC2/Pocket Wizard combo. I did some tests yesterday to figure out what was going on. At first, I thought that my Pocket Wizard Mini TT1 just didn't have as strong a signal as my old PLUS II's. So I tested this and indeed found that I could get an extra 15 feet if I used my PLUS II as a transceiver. But this only gave me 60 feet instead of 45 (line of sight!). So I then decided to set the PLUS II as the receiver instead of the MC2 on the EINSTEIN. BIG DIFFERENCE! Now, I could get 300 feet easy regardless of the transceiver I used (tried with PLUS II, Flex TT5 and Mini TT1).

So my question is: How can I improve the range of my Einstein when using the MC2 as a receiver? 40 feet just doesn't cut it for me. I don't need 300 feet but 100 feet with 99% reliability would be a minimum... I own 2 Einsteins and will probably purchase 2 more therefore I can't justify buying 2 more MC2's as well as 2 more PLUS II's when I need more range.

Thanks

You should probably contact LPA/PocketWizard for range issues of your remotes. These products are designed and manufactured by them, without really any involvement from us, other than being the point of sale for the receivers.

You can reach them at 802-658-0038 x572 or info@pocketwizard.com

Ok, I will do that. I read that the Einsteins Version 1 had a range problem with PW that had to do with the RF noise levels emitted by the Einsteins. I also read that the problem had been fixed with the Einsteins V2. Any way to check which versions I have?

Thanks

If you bought it new from us after October 2010, then it is the latter version. If you are unsure, you can contact customer service to evaluate which version you have.
