Post subject:  ABR800 & Quick Release Mount

I just purchased an ABR800 to replace my broken Profoto ring light and I was thinking about putting a quick release mount on the bracket so I wouldn't have to carry a screw driver with me. I've read about other people doing this.

So I was wondering if anybody had experience with this and which quick release mount work best, fits nicely and is easy to mount and unmount the camera.

I have plates for the RC2 mount, http://www.manfrotto.com/quick-change-r ... te-adapter but it takes a side slide movement to mount and I'm not sure how that would work with longer lenses. So I was thinking about this one http://www.manfrotto.com/quick-release- ... ding-plate which I think slides in from the end.

Anybody have any opinions? Am I over thinking this?

If I understand you concerns, you are afraid of the front-down angle the camera/lens would have to be at to mount to this adapter would cause the light to be in the way of the front of longer lenses?

That could possibly be true, however, the mounting platform (where the screw goes) is removable, and would slide straight in, similar to the second link provided. So you can remove the platform, mount it to the camera, then slide everything back onto the ringflash.
