The B1600 test fires and via the PC cable. On the Pocket Wizard side I have green sync LEDs on the the MiniTT1, the FlexTT5, and the AC9. The AC9 cable tests good on my RJ11 cable tester. B1600 on first, then Flextt5, then Mini TT1, then 5D MKII (normal sequence for PW set-up). When I fire the camera the Flextt5 status light turns red momentarily and returns to green in a second. So of course I haven't tried this out before this evening and I'm shooting a wedding in 14 hours. I do have a 4x matching speed lights so I'm not left in the dark but I was hoping to mix it up this time. Any thoughts? Quirky history? Thanks... |

This may be too late, and I am not familiar with all of the nuances of the PocketWizard system. However, the RJ11 jack is designed so that the power slider must be in the full power position. We also recommend all three model lamp buttons pushed in (though the on/off button can be off if desired). Also, make sure you are using a properly grounded outlet. Eliminate extension cords and power strips one at a time to ensure there is not bad ground introduced there. You may want to check the power cord, if possible, just in case. |

Besides the the AC9 (which physically interfaces via the RJ11 to the B1600 RJ11. I have the AC3 which let's you have manual remote control of power settings. When I spin its knob assigned by channel to the B1600 the modeling light goes up and down (tracks) but its operation is inverted. When I set the AC3 knob to +3 (full brightness) the modeling lamp goes off and when I set it -3 the modeling lamp goes full bright. Do I have the wrong RJ11 cable installed? I know they come in two types. One is called Telco and the other is called Data. It has to do with how the connectors are installed. If you lay a Telco flat the release levers match, if you lay a data flat one release will be and the other down. The cable I have is one tab up and the other tab down. Can anyone confirm which is correct? I have the fabrication tool so I could swap (replace) the conector. Thanks, Phil |

Thanks, Phil I found a video on line where the host called it a Telco (opposite of what I have) so I made a new one in the Telco config (both tabs up) and everything works now. :D :D :D |

Sorry I missed this, but yes, the cord does need to be the cross over type in order to work. The cable that came with the AC9 should have been the correct type. |
