Hello,

I've searched throughout the message board to see if there has been a similar issue to what i'm currently experiencing, but I have had no luck. So i apologize if this is a repetitive post.

I just received my Einstein 640 along with the Cyber Commander and CSXCV Transceiver. I have had experience with them before, and to get everything working properly was pretty straight forward, but that hasn't been the case this time around with my new purchase.

The Cyber Commander seems to be controlling the Einstein (i'm able to adjust the lights, get a flash and meter test, etc.) but the issue I am experiencing is that the Einstein is not firing when I press/release the shutter on my Nikon D600. What's strange to me is that when I first set everything up, it was working fine but there were instances where I would tilt the Cyber Commander forward, and that motion would set off the Einstein (without me pressing/releasing the shutter). Eventually, my camera no longer triggered the Einstein.

The Cyber Commander would still control everything on the Einstein, but nothing would occur when I'd try to take a photo with my camera. I'd only be able to get a flash if i pressed either of the buttons on the Cyber Commander, or the test button on the back of the Einstein.

I tried putting my SB-800 flash unit on my Nikon to see if there was something wrong with the hot shoe, and it worked perfectly fine. I read through the manuals of the Einstein, Cyber Commander, and CSXCV, followed the instructions numerous times, but still had no luck.

Are there settings on my camera or Paul C Buff equipment that i'm forgetting to change? Not really sure what I could do to solve the problem at this point, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

(i also tried putting the Cyber Commander on my Mamiya RZ67 but that also didn't trigger a response. I had used the same set up on a shoot last year, and was able to simply put the Cyber Commander on the Mamiya, and it worked fine, but it doesn't seem to be the case this time around either).

Based on the above information, it is likely a fault in the Cyber Commander foot. If you have a device with a PC connection, you can connect the sync cord that came with the Commander to that connection and see if the lights fire. If so, that would further reinforce the problematic foot theory.

Contact customer service, and they will be able to correct this under warranty.

Hello,

So I tried connecting the sync cord to my RZ67 and it was able to trigger off the light.

I'm guessing that the foot of the Cyber Commander is indeed faulty? I have already contacted customer service, and they'll be sending me a replacement one, but just wondering if that is actually the problem.

Thanks for the help.

It would be hard to say what is the problem exactly until we get it in. My guess is there is a break in the circuit between the foot and the boards. I doubt it is anything you did, if that was your concern.
