Yes, the CyberSync system can trigger cameras' shutters....sort of. By this, I mean there are limitations in what you can do versus a remote that is designed for such tasks.
First, A remote shutter is simply closing two circuits (AF and shutter, in that order) for a period of time. CyberSync only offers one momentary circuit closure. This would be reserved for the shutter release mechanism, and remote AF would not be available. Because of this, you would need a pre-release cable. A pre-release cable effectively puts the camera in the same state as half depressing the shutter button.
From our experience, CSRB's have worked with every DSLR camera we have connected them to (including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Minolta, Pentax, and Olympus cameras), though we have not done any testing in several years. CSRB+'s tend to not like Pentax and Nikon cameras, though work fine with Canon and Sony.
Also, one press of the CST=one shutter fire. You cannot press and hold and get continuous triggering.
We recommend shutter release priority over AF priority if given the option, as the close time of the circuit will not be long enough in many cases for the camera to decide something is in focus then take the photo.
You may want to consider turning off auto review.
All testing we have done was with the Flash Zebra pre-release cords, I would expect the PocketWizard branded ones to perform the same.
Thanks for all the help, TS. Always appreciated...
