I have need of a boom stand for my Einstein and 60" Octobox. Bought one at my local camera store yesterday, thinking it was going to be plenty strong and work just fine. After attempting to set it up this morning, I was WRONG. :o The price was too good to be true. Probably need one made of metal if there is one available that's affordable. I would love to be able to say that money is no object, but it most certainly is. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to get? I am 6'1" tall, and want this setup to allow me to stand under the light and octo pointed at my subjects in front of my backdrop, and not have to hunch over. Too much to ask? I saw in another thread that the following is good to have as well, which I am willing to get if necessary. Apparently, PCB used to have something, but it's no longer available?

On another note, the first time I used a soft box on one of my Einsteins, which was well over two years after I got them, the prongs that hold soft boxes and other modifiers are no longer easily opening and closing, and one appears to be disconnected from the mechanism. Prior to using a soft box, I only used the supplied reflector or an umbrella. Not really happy that happened after one use.

Regardless of the boom arm used, I would suggest the drop down pin you linked to.

There are a wide variety of booms available, probably the most popular being Matthews. Less expensive options would be a Westcott. Just make sure to use one that clamps to the columns of the stand if using our stands.

As for the fingers, contact our customer service department, and they can tell you the best way to get this corrected.

Thank you for the input. I ordered the following and hope they work. Didn't fit my idea of inexpensive, but should be worth it. And will call about the fingers on the Einstein, but probably not until after the 14th when I need it for a shoot. :)

And I did order the drop down pin, thank you.

I think this will be a very good set up. However, I note the boom arm does not have a counter weight. I would suggest using some type of counter weight like a sand bag.

I'm definitely going to use a sand bag, thank you.
