Hello, Does anyone happen to know the approx., working distance/range of the built in optical slaves in the WL 1800 Ultra's and the WL 3200 X-Series? I'm asking about an unobstructed "view" in a studio or on-location setting. Also, can I use the WL1800 Ultra & the WL3200 X-Series together triggering all the optical slaves simultaneously? I imagine all the newer/older Paul C. Buff products work with each other? Thanks! |

We at one time listed 50' max. However, that would be under ultimately ideal circumstances, i.e. a flash aimed right at a slave sensor in a dark room. Also, there could be a build up of dirt on the slave eye over time, so older units may be less sensitive than they were when new. If you rely on bounced light, low power flashes, lights that are shielded behind softboxes, etc, the distances will be dramatically reduced. There is no issues with combining types of lights (even other brands) and slaving optically. If range and reliable triggering are a concern, I would suggest using a radio remote system, like CyberSyncs: http://www.paulcbuff.com/cybersync.php |
