Recently added a set of four used CSXCV transceivers to my kit of four Einstein heads. In addition, in the same purchase I ended up with an earlier CyberCommander (no antenna) and a trigger (CST). I was super lucky that the eight pins on the transceivers did not get damaged in shipment from the seller. I shoot now entirely on location and need to protect those pins during transport. I don't want to leave the CSXCV in their slots on the top of the heads during storage and driving. Anyone out there have a creative transportation solution for this? Right now I use a long sandwich of foam in which nestle the six components but it depends on friction to keep the units between the panels. takes up space in the roller case that carries the heads. The ideas I have had: 1. drill holes in little blocks of soft wood to match (too hard to do! ...still need case to put these in), 2. hard case made for camera card transport, like a tiny Pelikan, 3. ?? I have looked for little flat toolkit cases made out of metal (used to be sold as part of your socket set) which used to be more common; I do have a couple of alternative metal boxes around my shop but I do want to avoid something big or time-consuming to create. I will post my Einstein-carry-4-heads solution in another thread. I found a great piece to solve that issue! ...but perhaps there will be a better way from another user. jonathan7007 |

Thank you for the ideas. i can think of another reason to use those foam circles: support the back of the reflectors, and perhaps they can do double duty. It looks like you dug out a hole to fit the transceivers, one in each? I'll attach a shot of what I realized I had right in front of me: a chambered nut and screw holder on the top of the Stanley tools rolling case i use to carry the Einsteins to shoots. The little transceivers lie on foam under a clear hinging top and I (or more important) an assistant get an immediate visual scan: are all the units there? http://jonathanrawle.zenfolio.com/einsteincarry Right now the Cyber Commander *almost* fits -- but not quite -- so have to carve out one of the partitions to accommodate it. I am not flying to shoots with this rig, but I suggest that this rolling box is great for driving to shoots. Look how the handle pulls out from which it is pulled behind you. 4 Einsteins in their soft cylindrical bags, some softbox rings as extras, an extra cord, and (in a pinch) a couple of honeycombs. Usually I have all the reflectors, honeycombs, extra tubes, scoop reflector, etc., in a old Tenba boxy 20" high padded case (shown) that was intended for power packs the size of a Norman, say, 800D or the bigger Dynalights, Speedotron brown (if you're old enough to remember those(!). Anyway, I got it used and it serves well for the lighter pieces. The Stanley box was, until recently, available in my island's HomeDepot stores but they decided not to carry what appears to be a continuing product. jonathan7007 |

And, the E640's slip into the foam as you mentioned for added support in the case. regards j |

I designed and purchased a custom foam insert and case for my set up. Below is a picture of it and a link to my website with story on how I did it. There is a link where you can order the case using my foam design direct from the company. I have no financial interest in the company but the case worked for me. My article also has a link to the company site where you can design your own foam for a case if what I did won't work for you.
