I am using the Ultras and need a sync cable for them yesterday sorta thing. (Stepping on them doesn't help. )

I have been using the "TRS" 1/4 cable but wondering why that is needed. The strobes seem to fire with out problem if I put a headphone adapter on my Alien Bee cable, but don't want to risk damage. If I require, is there somewhere I can get a very short one? (In Canada or on-line.)

Thank-you,

Ryan

Is this remote to flash or camera to flash? Either way, if what you are using is working, then you should be fine.

If you are using a mono cord, there could be some sporadic triggering if you are using a less-than-ideal power source, but this is pretty rare.

This is from Yongnuo triggers to the flash. (Thus why I don't want long ones.) I have been using the "proper" cable and just wrecked the last one. Can you explain why the TRS (stereo) cable is required? Is it grounding?

The ring (the segment furthest from the tip) is unwired and isolates the sync circuit from case ground, which would be a problem if the power supply is miswired in certain ways.

The mono versions we sell work fine. I cannot honestly say that I have ever seen a problem using the mono cables due to them being mono.
