Post subject: | Vagabond II voltage readings |
After reading a few other posts in this Forum, it is mentioned that the Vagabond II charger should be applying about a 13.8VDC voltage to the battery to charge it. When I put my trusty Radio Shack volt meter on the charger (without the battery connected), the reading cycles through from a low of 7.76 to 13.72VDC, all within about 4 seconds. Is this normal? Should the reading be a steady 13.8VDC more or less? Do I probably have a bad charger? Thanks. |

Once the voltage reaches 13.72, does it stay there, or does it fluctuate? |

...the reading cycles through from a low of 7.76 to 13.72VDC, all within about 4 seconds. .. In other words, it goes through this range of readings continuously every 4 seconds. |

If the inverter is one of the earlier versions, then this is normal pulse charging. If you have a fuse in the red battery cable, then this is OK (even some with the fuse in the inverter will exhibit this). 13.72 is high enough to fully charge the battery, though you do not want it to peak too much lower. |
