(Warning I'm posting from a phone!) using a soft silver 50 something inch PLM and a 60 something inch white PLM with cover (bouncing), I'm trying to create a gradient on the background (with the silver one) while also putting an edge light on my portrait subject with the same light. The spill from the soft silver mounted via on-axis cage is creating a pretty hard edged leak on the sweep. With the standard spill kill reflector, I have no such problem because I can control leakage with umbrella-to-strobe tube distance. Not so with the fixed distance, on axis speed ring cage. Am I missing something? |

You can still alter the tube to umbrella distance on the speedring version PLM. Unscrew the thumb screw just so the umbrella moves along the position shaft. You can then re-tighten the thumbscrew to hold its position. The thumb screw will not go into a pre-drilled hole, but it will have enough tension to hold its place. |

Well duh (face/palm). Thanks, it might have taken me weeks to figure that one out. |
