| Post subject: | PWM signal on REMOTE connector? |
The REMOTE connector on a 1st generation strobe takes a DC voltage for strobe power and another DC voltage for the brightness of the modeling light. Does this voltage need to be pure DC, or can I get away with feeding it a pulse-width modulated (PWM) logic signal? A PWM signal is easy to generate on a typical microcontroller like an Arduino, whereas the real DC signal is a bit harder. I'm trying to rig up my own home-brew remote control setup, with minimum cost hardware. Thanks! |

I would think a PWM signal fed to Buff analog remote inputs is likely to cause oddities and havoc. But if you have a PWM generated control voltage, why not simply apply an RC integrator to make it DC? |

Thanks! I was just hoping to avoid adding any circuitry not already included on the microcontroller board. Adding even a simple circuit probably means a custom circuit board. Not necessarily a show-stopper, but an extra hassle and expense. |
