Hi everyone, i'm curious what people are using to wirelessly trigger their camera, with an einstein setup.

for example, i'm using a canon 6d, with 2 einsteins and the CC system for remote power control, metering etc... but I need a trigger for a group shot that I must be in, and out of WiFi range, so I will need something to trigger my camera, preferably autofocus and shutter.

With WiFi I could use the app on my iphone for 6d, but even that can be annoying having to touch the screen and not a physical button!

Any help would be appreciated greatly!!

Thanks to anyone reading.

There are a million options on the market that would work well. Many under $50. Amazon, Ebay, BHphoto, Adorama, etc carry these. I would expect the cheap ones to do OK for general work, though I may not take them to the Olympics.

CyberSync was not designed for camera triggering, though it can be used. However, you will not have auto focus nor will all remotes work with all cameras (CSRB works the best). You would need a transmitter and receiver dedicated for this purpose, set to a different frequency than that of the lights.

Thanks for the quick reply, you guys are great!

Then I assume the yong uno's i've used for speedlights in the past will work fine, i'm assuming I can just attach the CST trigger to the pass through hot shoe mount on the yong uno! I just wan't sure if this would work well sync-speed-wise, especially since the 6D has trouble at 180th and leaves me never going above 125th! Hoping there's no additional delay. Guess i'll have to test that out.

I'm new to the remote shooting thing, so bare with me!

hmm. I guess it depends on what YongNuo's you are talking about. They may work, but I would not put it on the hotshoe, as that is just typically a place to afix the remote (for camera triggering). If there is a pass through, I am not sure how that would affect the CST. If you are only using a receiver on the camera, there may not be a pass through at all, the bottom may be cold.

Also, depending on the remotes, while it may trigger the camera, it needs to be designed to also activate the AF. This would require the jack in the remote to be a stereo 3.5mm jack. A PC port cannot accommodate AF and shutter release signals.

The yong uno's are transceivers, so I assume there should be pass through. But at the same time, I guess I could just try leaving the CST on the camera's hot shoe by itself, and plug the yong uno trigger into the port on the side and dangle it instead of attaching the CST and trigger to the camera's shoe mount... does that seem like it would make sense? I am going on assumption that the yong uno will function as a camera trigger only, and the CST will do it's normal thing tripping the flashes. The yong uno works like a typical camera shutter button, so I would get auto focus then fire the shot.

I am afraid if there is a pass through signal, and the camera is mounted in the hotshoe, that the camera will trigger the remote in the hotshoe, and the remote will then trigger the camera, which triggers the remote, which triggers the camera, ad infinitum.

If the remote is placed in receiver only mode, I would imagine the camera and the CST up top would get the signal to fire simultaneously. This is undesirable, as the mirror and first curtain shutter need to be out of the way before the CST fires. If the CST fires too soon, you will end up out of sync.

All of this is thought experimenting, and I see no harm in trying with what you have.
