Obviously, not when it's hot :D

But we had a shoot last week where we burned through the vagabond mini because someone accidentally turned the modeling light on with one of our einsteins. Normally I turn them off with the cybercommander but I only use the cyber for power settings so the modeling light got turned on and stayed on for a couple hours.

So, i'd like to start pulling the bulb before the shoots but just wondering if finger oil will cause the bulb to overheat later?

Finger oils on the halogen lamps can cause excess local heating of the lamps can "bubble" the quartz envelope and cause early failures. So it's wise to just use a paper towel when handling the lamps.
