I hesitated sending off the post because.. well... design is personal. But, because I really do I like your product I thought it might be a good conversation to have. And indeed I was only thinking about this because I need to place another order.

Improving on a design does not mean that it needs to look like everything else.

My best advice is to ask around, toss a couple competitive products on a table and do a quick focus group. Without turning on a unit, ask the typical questions: which looks to be a better build, new technology, does it embrace the qualities of innovation and high performance. etc.

Good design is done with purpose and style. In the very same way that we apply lighting to a photograph. How we use it makes a difference. There are right ways and wrong ways, but that doesn't mean that all photographs need to look the same.

just my opinion so don't attack (I'm probably wrong) ... but I wonder if the easiest upgrade might just be a redesign of the product labels and collateral material? a quick reference image below...

sounds good. I mentioned this only because I like the gear. It works great, but it should also compete with the other "brands" on a design front too. And many of the reviews hint at the look, is it sturdy, is it professional, all these terms are subjective. After all, we are in a business of how things look. When it comes down to comparing products, the look of the gear should also be in play. best regards.

With all due respect, it seems you are suggesting all equipment should look (and operate?) exactly the same. This comes across to me as similar to the thought that all school kids should be dressed the same, talk the same, get the same scores on tests regardless of what they are capable of learning, and that individualism and creativity are bad things that should be stifled. My goal is not to compete with other products . . . it is to create, innovate and elevate performance, usability and affordability . . . to appeal to those who share my goals and to be passed over by those who don't. Might I propose that all photographers be required to drive black Mercedes, wear black suits and shoes, and be required to take pictures that comply with UN standards for appearance, lighting, posing and content? To each his own, and may the best win.

I find the brand recognizable. Which should be it's point. But, as long as this can of worms is open... Have a location on the side of the units for the ID.
