STOP THE PRESSES !!

If it's not too late, and I really truly hope it's not, if the PLM's shaft is not "solid" could we please have it so ?

Like my Softlighter II............

As I was loading the Softlighter II into the strobe head over the weekend, I thought how good the uncrushable solid shaft was compared to just about every crushed umbrella shaft I have !!!

Thanks,

AB.

V2 shaft is solid. But you probably will prefer the on-axis speedring mount on Buff or Elinchrom lights.

I think so, but can't guarantee anything until I receive and approve the final samples and get a firm production schedule from the vendors.

I have a quick question.... I ordered two 86" PLMs about a month ago off the site. They are on backorder. Am I going to get the PLM V2 or the V1? If I am getting the V1 can I change to the V2? Can the V2 even be ordered yet?

The 42" is being replaced by a 51" primarily because the on-axis speed ring mounting mechanism of VII required more depth than the 42" size would allow. Also, I felt the 42" size with off-axis mount placed the PLM too far off-axis for accurate aiming and optimal lighting quality. 42" was way down on the quantity ordered compared to the 64 and 86 inch versions. Sooooooorry :|

Ok... well.... the 51" is only 10 inches larger so thats okay in my book. Question whats the tip to tip opened side distance... would u say about 45 inches Paul? that would be perfect...

Hi Paul,

I am new to Alien Bees. They are my first studio stobes and seemed to be a natural choice. Not only for the product its self and its value, but I also admire your business model.

Any way, used a friends 64" PLM to create these photos...

http://www.jphotoarts.com/Client-work/Jamie-Hair/11242385_Eyzao#798529639_n8Eqk

So I ordered an 86" PLM with a back cover and front panel to go with my AB400s.

My question is, does it look like there will be enough in your first shippment of PLMs to cover the current backorder? or will we some of us most likely have to wait for another shippment or two to come in.

Jason
