Anybody using a Vagabond to power a laptop on location. Seems like it should work? Thought, experiences? |

it will power a laptop. How much run time you will get will vary based on the draw of your computer, though it should be on the order of several hours with most laptops. |

I realize this is an old thread, but was wondering about the thoughts of using the Vagabond Mini with a laptop. I would think it would be the same as the Vagabond II, but wanted to be sure. Edited to add: I apologize. I've been doing research all evening on battery packs and forgot that I had read the info on the site about the Vagabond Mini. How do I find out the draw on the laptop to find out how long it will last when paired with a single AB800 at about half power? Thanks! |

On the charger block, you will see output voltage and output amperage. Mutilpy those, and that will give you the wattage. What many folks don't realize is the VML will drain in, say, an hour or two while the laptops internal battery will last for 3-4 hours or more. This is because those rating on the charger are when the battery is being charged (a higher draw). So it is running the computer and charging the battery, so naturally it will drain rapidly. But much of the VML power has transfered to the laptop's battery. I suspect the numbers are lower than the charger block indicates when the battery is full, but to my knowlege, those are un published in most instances. |
