Hey guys, so we're an Aussie customer and have received a shipment of bulbs from the US in the hopes that our woes with the E640's would be over for a while, as we've had two repairs on 2 of our 4 E640's and one Vagabond Lithium repaired in the two years we've owned them.

One of our already-repaired E640's is showing a red 'ready' light and the flash doesn't operate. Modelling bulb works fine, the rest of the unit seems to operate normally (Cyber Commander control etc..) so I'm ready for any tips or if you need further info - I would post pics of the LCD panel showing flashes (14,274) etc.. but can't

Also, if there is a need for repair, are you able to perhaps PM or email me contact info of an Australian repairer (perhaps the ex-Australian repairer that you used when 1st line digital were the AU suppliers)? Waiting two weeks for bulbs and now possibly another 3 weeks for a repair return trip from the USA is really hampering a lot of product photography we require to get through and this guy is one of our two front lights!

Thanks :)

Constant red light means the E640 is not charging as it is supposed to. I presume this happens with no remotes connected? If you have not tested with remotes removed (really, remotes plugged into the top. remotes via the sync jack are fine.).

If the problem does persist without the remotes, then the light will need to be serviced. We do not have any authorized repair facilities in Australia at this time, so it will need to come back to us.

Thanks. I've tried the unit without the CSCXV unit as well as with and it still gives the same issue.

That is also disappointing news about no longer having any repair abilities in Australia.

hello,
my name is Adrian, i am from Romania
one friends established in Chicago , buy for me 2 Einstein about 2 years ago, 2 vagabond mini, flash tube and lamp 25w for reserve.
i have with 1 einstein the same problem , no charge , lamp is red , no beep, ... without radio control (PowerMC2), with ..same problem, ...connected to mini vagabond or to wall, no chance.
but, if i wait 10 min, mean einstein functioning, the flash is charge, the light in green, but only ´128/7f to full power. ´256 to ´128 no flash light.
i have changed the tube flash, no influence at all, both are good. modelling lamp is ok.
the eintein show only 3400 flashes.

sorry my english,
im waiting answer
Thank you

That is an internal fault that will need to come in for repair. The light can be sent directly to us, but we will need to ship domestically.

I would suggest contacting our Customer Service or Repair departments for more information.

Sorry, no PM-ing. But the diagnostic fee is $50 for Einstein, and many repairs would be covered under that cost. However, the repair may be estimated for a higher cost.

I recommend contacting our repair department (repair@paulcbuff.com) for explicit instructions for out of country repairs.
