I have two VMLs and chargers. One of the chargers when attached to a VML has a green LED on the transformer that turns red. The other chargers LED constantly stays green even when attached to a VML. I checked it with my multimeter and it's putting out about 16.5 volts. Is it still safe to use? |

The VML charger should read 16.8V when the battery is fully charged and the green LED on. If the battery is not charged the voltage will be lower and the red light should be on. |

OK, so one of my VML chargers LED lights will never turn red. It always stays green, even when connected to a VML I've been using all day. I don't know if its actually charging my VML or not because the light never turns red and I won't leave it hooked up until I know it is safe. How can I test if it's working? I'm worried about hooking it to a VML and possibly damaging it. |

There should not be much danger of damage, though, you are likely not doing much good either. Double check the red/black Anderson connectors in the charger to be sure they are of equal height and not pushed back. This would cause a not-connected state when plugged in, and would result in the LED not switching to red. Also, if the charger is only outputting 16.5VDC, then it is bad and will need to be replaced. |
