I am shooting a 18 person dance team on a 20 ft wide, white polycloth background. Suggestions for modifiers for my White Lighting 1200s to light background evenly for such a width? :?: |

Distance. Distance will be the key to even illumination. Back them off as far as possible, then cross light them. Right light shines on the left and the left light shines on the right. You can use barn doors or flags to keep light of the back of the dancers. I would use something rather wide so that there is even illumination top to bottom, like a 7" reflector. The spread can get narrower as you move the lights back so you can concentrate more light to the needed area, but too narrow of a reflector will yield in uneven lighting near the top and or bottom. |

Read this 2009 article from Rob Galbraith on lighting sports teams. It should help you greatly. http://www.robgalbraith.com/multi_pagebb9d.html?cid=7-10046-10396 Start reading halfway down the page, at the subhead "The PLM System and Team Photos." |
