First off, these are elite portable power units but we have noticed a few reoccurring issues on both of our VLX units.
1: The long screw that holds the stand mount is very thin and bends very easy making it impossible to properly tighten the VLX to the light stand. This leads to VLX's falling off stands that they are secured to, but obviously not tightly enough as over tightening leads to the screw bending.
Our recommendation would be a more sturdy screw.
2: The bracket is too short, in the occurrence that a VLX does fall from a stand, the brackets can turn because of their length they can corrupt and break the spider web that is directly below the bracket and above the internal fan. This can lead to pieces of the vented spider web jamming the internal fan and leading to overheating of the VLX inverter.
Our recommendation would be a longer bracket that is too long to hit the spider web vent below the bracket.
This scenario recently happened to me and I will be sending my inverter in for warranty repair or replacement.
Please take a look at these two components as I feel that I am likely not the only one who does a high volume of location shooting and has encountered similar if not the same issues.
