Just got my new Einsteins and CyberCommander - I set everything up properly. The light is on Channel 1 Freq 1, the light is properly assigned on Channel 1 and identified as an Einstein640WS. I dialed in ISO200 and 1/250 as the meter setting on the CC as well as on my D300 and on Gossen Digital F flash meter and verified all were identically set.

With a medium softbox attached to my Einstein I have the power set to 16WS and the subject is about 5 feet from the strobe. When I meter with the CC, I get a reading of F11.1 - far far off and far underexposed. Incident metering with my my Gossen F placing the dome in exactly the same place as the CC dome when metering I get F2.8 or so - the correct meter reading. To get the CC to read the same I have set the calibration of the CC -3.5F to get it to give me a correct reading! This can't be right. Aren't these devices factory calibrated?

Now what?

It is possible that I accidentally changed something when I went into the Advanced Configuration menu when exploring the CyberCommander. I see there is an option for FACTORY CALIBRATION. I've been reading the manual and see nothing how to use this screen and feature. What do I do to set it to original factory calibration? Do I point the CC dome at the strobe with that menu open and press down on the left joystick once and then again on the right joystick once? If so how far away from the strobe? WHY ISN'T THIS DOCUMENTED IN THE USER GUIDE - either the printed one or the one online?

For anyone reading this thread, this was resolved by phone. There is an option to recalibrate the Cyber Commander (as well as a seperate option to offset the calibration). We strongly urge anyone who wishes to use thi function to contact us before you do so. However, should you find you inadvertently or adventurously made adjustments in this menu, you can revert back to the factory calibration by pressing the left joystick left or right while in this menu to revert to the factory calibration.

Many thanks - this was a typical user error by playing around in menus I had no business messing with when exploring all of the CC menus for the first time - definitely call technical support first if you experience the same - easily reset.

By the way, you guys at PCB are brilliant! Having all Einsteins with a CyberCommander is a dream come true!

Thank you,
Mike
