Post subject:  Transmitter has failed

Hello,

I have a cybersync transmitter, approximately 1 year old, and receiver which I use with a Vivitar flash. Recently, the transmitter has begun to fail...occasionally at first, and now gone completely.

I've put new (or newly charged) batteries in flash/transmitter/receiver, assured they were on the same channel, tested with the on-flash test button, receiver test button, but the transmitter test button simply flashes a red light on the unit with no subsequent firing of the flash.

The flash does work when I put it on the hot shoe of my camera.

Have I somehow fried the transmitter, or have I missed something in my troubleshooting?

Best regards,
Skip Lombardi

how many times does the LED flash on the transmitter when the test button is pressed? If it blinks multiple times, then the battery is low. Also, be sure you are setting frequency and not channel (some recievers have both). Are you getting a red blink on the reciever's led when the transmitter's test button is pressed?

The red LED on the transmitter flashes once for each press of the test button. It also flashes once when I mount it on the hot shoe of the camera and make an exposure.

As to channels vs. frequencies, I just have knurled plastic screws that can be set from 1 to 10. As nearly as I can tell, I've set them to match on both the transmitter and the receiver. Anyway, as I indicated, they've been working fine up until recently.

Hope this helps,

Ok, the dials should be settable from 1-16. Odd frequencies are marked, and even frequencies are unmarked, and lie in between odd frequency settings. The dial does have one end that is notched deeper and appears darker. This is the end that selects the frequency. For trouble shooting purposes, turn each dial up to frequency 5, then attempt again. It may take two presses to the transmitter's test button to resync. If this still is unsuccessful, contact customer service for warranty service.
