I recently purchased a CyberSync CST and two CSRBs. I verified that they work properly using a Canon 5D Mark II DSLR and a LumoPro LP160 flash, both with the CST in the camera's hot shoe and also with the CST connected to the camera's PC sync port using the supplied 2.5mm sync cord.

Next I put the CST in the hot shoe of an Epson RD-1 digital rangefinder. It failed to fire the flash when I pressed the shutter release. I tried connecting the CST to the camera's PC sync port using the 2.5mm sync cord. This also failed. I put the flash in the camera's hot shoe and confirmed that the camera would fire the flash. I also confirmed that the camera would fire the flash through its PC sync port.

I'd really like to be able to use the CyberSyncs with the RD-1, but I'm stumped here. Can you help?

Thanks.

There are two possibilities that come to mind:

First, and most likely, is a reverse polarity issue between camera and transmitter. If this is the case, then you can resolve this by revesring the polarity for the cord. I do not know of a way to reverse foot polarity. To do this for the cord, there may be a ready made cord to do this (I had a light meter that came with one), or you can cut the CST cord, trim back the black insulation exposing a red and a white insulated wire (I believe these are the colors, if not, there will be two different colors). Trim back these insulations, and connect red to white, and white to red. Insulate these wires from each other.

The second possibility is the close time is too short for the CST. There is nothing that can be done in this case.
