I bought a Canon 60D Digital SLR camera and I'm dissapointed to find out it doesn't come with a PC Flash sync port, even though all the previous models (30D for example) came with it.

I'm trying to find a Hot Shoe adapter that will allow me to connect an external flash kit via a PC sync port so I can use the Alien Bee B400 unit with it, as well as a wireless remote to do self -photography.

Here are some options I found, will these work?

•• Canon TTL Hot Shoe Adapter

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-TTL-Hot-Sho ... =8-1-fkmr0

and

•• EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Adapter OA-2

http://www.amazon.com/Dedicated-Off-Cam ... pd_sim_p_2

If these adapters aren't compatible with the 60D cameras, do you have a recommendation on how to use the Alien Bee B400 and wireless remotes at the same time with the camera? Besides just letting the built in flash to trigger the camera.

Right now I'm trying to use my Alien Bee flash kit with the 60D unsuccessfully:

I would have bought a 7D but they don't come with a flip out/swivel LCD screen, which is a deal breaker when trying to videotape or photograph yourself.

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You can also get what you need here, http://www.alienbees.com/parts.html

If money is not a problem, than go with a wireless solution. No cords to trip on that way. Cybersyncs, pocket wizards, etc will have one unit that slides on your hot shoe, the other well just plug into your lights sync port via a short cord.

I never liked the PC socket designed years ago that is still in use today. They become loose and sloppy easily.

After tripping on a sync cord and watching my tripod hit the ground, no more cords for me...

Thanks! Do you have a suggestion for a combo device that allows for taking photos remotely?

The idea is to take self-portraits from a distance, and syncing the flash with the camera.

Yes, Pocket wizard plus II. You will need a pair of them, they make a cable that connects to the cameras cable release socket and the other end to the PW. PW cables are grossly over priced but if you need it than I guess you pay for it.

You would have a second PW transceiver in your hand and just hit the test button to fire the camera. I have that setup and it works well as long as your in manual focus because if your camera hunts for focus, than the trigger signal will be too short to work.

CyberSyncs http://www.alienbees.com/remotes.html can also do the same, though you will need two pair (two triggers and two recievers) to trigger the camera and fire the flash(es). Either way, you will also need a prerelease cable to trip the shutter, which can be found here: http://www.flashzebra.com/shutter_pw/0090.shtml (i assume this also works with the 60D).
