Not sure if this is a valid question to ask in this tech forum, so mods, please lock or delete this thread if I'm going against the rules here.

Anyways, I was on the pocketwizard site and I noticed that they have a couple of new products, the AC3 zone controller and AC9 Alienbees Adaptor?!?!

I read a bit more into this, and it sounds like they are making pretty amazing/crazy claims about the AC9 Alienbees adaptor:

- ControlTL/wireless remote control of AlienBees, X-series, and Zeus flash units?!
- Zone control (limited to 3 zones, guessing they are borrowing the A/B/C zones that Canon speedlites use)
- HYPERSYNC up to 1/8000s?! Is this even possible???

I just wanted to know if the tech people here know about the AC9 product and whether it actually can do all it claims. E-TTL control over PCB lights sounds really cool!

yes, we are aware of them. Infact the AC3 is what will be needed for the MC2 module for Einstein. Yes, the lights can be adjusted in up to 3 zones. And yes they can be hypersynced. You cannot adjust the full range of Einstein with this combo, nor can you hypersync with Einstein very effectively due to the short flash duration. Please read this thread for hypersyncing: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=67

I do not think (though I may be wrong) you do not need the AC9 or AC3 to hypersync. You need a TT trigger and any Pocket Wizard reciver. In fact, you could probably use a TT transmitter as a go between for the camera and CST, then use our recievers on teh lights and still get "hypersync". The TT transmitter is only reading when to fire and passing that along to the CST. This also works to shoot in Live View with a Canon DSLR.
