I need to see a photo of a speedring for the Elinchrom. I'm going to modify a speedring to mount a Profoto, but I have no idea what an PLM Elinchrom mount looks like.

TIA

I believe there is an off the shelf adapter for this from profoto, if the cost is reasonable for your budget/trouble.

The adapter is actually made by Elinchrom:

Thanks, Dave F !!!

I'll order the Elinchrom mount, machine the the mount flat and rivet a standard Profoto mount to it. I'll probably need to make a flat aluminum disk, to bridge the gap, as well as the hole in the Elinchrom mount may be too large.

It sure is nice to have a client who has a machine shop as part of his business. :D

I'll post photos, of the finished speedring, when I get one made.

If I were you, I'd get one of these:

http://www.adorama.com/PTMCAR14.html

(or the even less expensive SP Studio Systems version if you can find one), drill 3 equally spaced 1/8" holes near the outer edge of the flange, remove the tripod portion of a PLM cage, position the tripod legs in the holes you just drilled, apply and tighten nuts and lock washers, rinse, repeat.

The flange of the Profoto insert will have to be bent up a bit where the holes were drilled to match the angle of the three legs of the cage tripod. Should be a quick, easy, secure, professional looking mod.

@ Dave F, I have several of these sitting on the work bench already http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 ... ustom.html I've done some mods like this in the past ... and will do more in the future. :D Stock sux, most of my light modifiers have been modified. I notice you do the same thing. :D
