This was a cut 'n paste from an email that was sent to (all ??) AU pre-orders.

I received a similar email and I am in the US. I own 1 Einstein with 2 more on order. So there seems to be an issue for all. Mine says to NOT turn up modeling lamp past 125 watts when the unit is lilted downward. This is why the wait for the Einstein is not so bad because these kind of issues can be solved before more of them get into users hands.

With this new information to hand, this post below now makes more sense.........

We have found and corrected the sources of offending EMI and are in the process of re-drafting the Einstein power supply circuitry to eliminate this issue. The rework should become available mid-August.

Clearly not all. I have not received this email. Thanks for the info. Looks like the wait will be a long one but as mentioned by others, I'm all for giving time to get the Einstein 100%.

Dangit....

when did they come out with this? No mention of it when I made my order for 3 einsteins monday, all I could get out of them for approximate delivery was <2 months.

If this decision was made after monday, it means I'd have to wait even longer for my einsteins as they would most likely want to take care of replacements first for the existing owners (no complaint about that).

A grand worth of modifiers/receivers/CC that I won't be able to use until who knows when are coming tomorrow.....

Oh well, half tempted to cancel or go with some AB1600/800's and forget about it which is a shame because I wanted the e640's mainly because of the duration and power range......I could honestly care less about the PW performance issue as I never plan to use them anyway.

sorry for the rant, just frustrating as I've been waiting forever to raise the money to buy them before placing the order.........

mgimagery,
This delay is only for units shipping outside North America. We are still shipping units, as many within the US will not experience any issues, and those that do can more easily get those units corrected.

So is the issue only with 220volt versons?

There isn't a 220V (240V /AU) version, there is just the one "any-voltage" unit.

It seems that the power supply in the Einsteins runs well (for most people) at 110v, but the power supply is having trouble when fed 220V / 240V.

Given that they haven't stopped production and are still shipping to 110V customers, it seems safe to assume that by the "fix-date" (August 20) they will be past order #1,200, therefore one might hope that the EU and AU orders (known to be around order #1,200) will ship soon after that date ......

Hopefully !!

(TS...Your thoughts ??)
