I know PCB likely can't and won't do this, but I've got to keep myself busy thinking about something during my wait, so...

My strategy is to price for maximum volume at a decent profit and treat customers like I would like to be treated and it works.

Your strategy seems to be working, and I'm better off for it so no complaints here! Keep up the good work!

BTW, does anybody know if we have a # if we back-ordered? Say, in May? Or is it only early pre-orders that have #'s? I feel left out of the #'s game. =)

There are no numbers for the back-orders. I'm in the same boat. I ordered in mid-May, and when I asked a few days ago about the same issue I was told that back-orders are all in a big folder. Here's the exact reply.

"I don’t know exactly where you are in the backorder queue since we don’t have a list for the backorders….they are all kept in a big folder. Right now we anticipate the wait time for current orders to be about three months because we are doing some upgrades to the Einstein and all backorders will get the Version 2 (upgraded) lights. The upgrades we are doing include reworking the power supply to eliminate EMI interference with Pocket wizard brand wireless systems as well as a new airflow design that will eliminate overheating of the unit even when the model lamp is at full and the light is being used with honeycomb grids or pointed straight down."

I wish I knew relatively what my number is as well. I have no idea if I'm 2000, 2500, or 5000. :?:

Everyone seems to be taking the V1 flashes. Anyone waiting for V2 and taking the $50 credit?

Since I'm not in a huge rush seems like a no-brainer to me. What am I missing?

I thought they were only shipping V2 and stopped sending out V1. This is my confusion. :)

Do they have a thread in this forum about it?

idaband - When my pre-order number came up last week they said I could either wait several weeks for V2 and get a $50 credit or take delivery of a V1 now and then send them back for free upgrade to V2 later. I opted to take delivery of the V1's and send them back later. It'll cost more in the long run (shipping + no $50 credit) but I'd rather be able to use them while the V2's are prepped.

On a side note... I ordered a whole bunch of other stuff too including a beauty dish. I was traveling for work this week and the gear was waiting for me when I got back. So I'm opening everything up and checking it out and I managed to knock the beauty dish off the table and onto the hard floor - dent!!!

I haven't fired a single shot through it yet and I've already dented it! Oh well, its a small dent and I don't think it will affect the performance.

I just noticed that the V1 / V2 policy is addressed in the Einstein price increase announcement: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=717.

The RF issues don't affect me, and the heat issues can be worked around for a while, but I figure I'll eventually forget and melt something. And best to have the updated versions in case I ever sell them (which I find unlikely, but you never know; a lot can change in 5-10 years).

Since I had two pre-orders for two each, I took two immediately ('cuz I really need them), and will delay the other second order. Then if I decide to send back the first ones, I'll have the others to use.

If I had a pre-order and didn't really need them for another 6 weeks or so, then I'd delay them all.
